Spring Lobster

Cabot Trail Hostel is situated in Pleasant Bay, 25 miles north of Cheticamp on the famous Cabot Trail. The Highlands National Park which surrounds the town is a nature lovers paradise, a haven for wildlife with excellent hiking trails. In Spring the ice floes have gone, the boats are put back in the water for fishing, and the whales return to the Gulf of St. Lawrence to feed. During the Spring season these tiny fishing communities come alive as the lobster season begins. Watch the unloading at the harbour, go out fishing on the boats or eat fresh lobster straight from the sea.
Spring is also a great time to enjoy the many hiking tails in the National Park. There are 27 park trails taking in waterfalls, coastal scenery and protected forests. Come enjoy unspoiled nature, spectacular scenery and watch spring unfold.

Trips can be arranged to go out lobster fishing.

The Cabot Trail is considered to be one of the most scenic drives in Canada taking you round the tip of Cape Breton with stunning mountains embraced by ocean views.
